Die Festplatte (WD MyBook Studio) hat auf Anhieb an der USB-Schnittstelle funktioniert, die CPU jedoch konnte vom Dell-Fertigrechner nicht erkannt werden. Sogar nach einem BIOS-Update auf die letzte Version war das einzige Lebenszeichen des Rechners das extrem laute Hochdrehen des Lüfters! Hilft nichts - CPU ging zurück...
Der eigentliche Grund, warum ich mich für die WD MyBook Studio entschieden habe, war ja die eSATA-Schnittstelle. Also holte ich mir beim Zurückgeben der CPU gleich noch eine Slotblende mit eSATA-Anschlüssen (die sind bei Dell ja natürlich nicht vorhanden!) und ein eSATA-Kabel, das leider der Festplatte nicht beigelegt ist (ein USB-, FW400- und FW800-Kabel liegen jedoch bei).
Naja, wie ja nicht anders zu erwarten war, hat die Verbindung über eSATA natürlich nicht funktioniert. Nach einiger Recherche im Netz scheint der Grund dafür zu sein, dass WD die eSATA-Buchse im Festplattengehäuse zu tief eingebaut hat, sodass ein normales eSATA-Kabel keinen Kontakt herstellen kann.
Den Stecker manuell nachzubearbeiten hab ich mir bis jetzt noch nicht angetan (kommt vielleicht noch), also betreib ich die Platte weiterhin über USB. Also was bleibt zum Schluss: ein Haufen Frust über die Hersteller (WD und Dell), wie man nur so blöd sein kann, und als kleiner Wehrmutstropfen Speicherplatz bis zum Abwinken ;-))]]>

Von dem festlichen Ambiente im Festsaal der BOKU war natürlich auch meine Familie recht angetan. Nach soviel Festlichkeit war ein traditionelles Heurigenbuffet beim Weinhof Zimmermann ein sehr schöner Ausklang der Feierlichkeiten.

Die Beratung der Prüfungskomission unter Univ.Prof. Dr. Axel Schopf verlief alsdann positiv und um ca. 17:30 wurde mir zum Bestehen der Prüfung gratuliert...

Zur Feier des Tages gab es dann auf der wunderschönen Dachterrasse der Schwackhöferhauses. Das Wetter war ja wie bestellt - traumhaft! An dieser Stelle nochmals herzlichen Dank an alle, die dabei waren. Ganz besonders natürlich den drei Mädels für Ihre moralische Unterstützung...
